Why I love my Super Carry

After many years in the business, and a number of previous vehicles, Fiona’s franchise purchased their first Super Carry in August 2021 and their second one in February this year

Sufficient space for all equipment and staff
The Suzuki Super Carry has been a favourite with small business owners since 1961. The current derivative plays an integral role in many companies from florists to caterers and cleaning. We had a chat with one of these entrepreneurs to find out how the Super Carry enables her business.

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes, 55 seconds.

Running your own business is rewarding, but it is by no means easy. All the decisions land on your shoulders and it’s up to you to make the call on which partners or suppliers will be reliable. If your business requires a bit of heavy lifting, you need a reliable workhorse that doesn’t break the bank.

A compact light commercial vehicle with a 750 kg load capacity that is comfortable to drive and reliable to boot. But don’t just take our word for it. We spoke to Fiona Merrington, franchise owner of Skitterblink Cleaning Services in Moreleta Park, Pretoria.

Skitterblink offers cleaning services ranging from domestic and commercial to cleaning up fire and soot damage, trauma cleaning, as well as decontamination and disinfection, to name only a few. With such a demanding, and varied, workload the company needs a reliable vehicle that can adapt accordingly.

Since then she has been a loud advocate for this amazing little workhorse and encourages all business owners to take a closer look.

According to Fiona:

Q: For people and others who are starting their own business, can you give some advice on how they should go about finding the right vehicle for their business?

Fiona: You must first see what your business requirements are with regard to transporting staff and equipment. Fuel consumption is also a big factor when purchasing a vehicle that is going to be used every day and driving from client to client. You need to look at cost, but you also want a vehicle that is fuel efficient and most importantly, a trustworthy brand that is not going to give problems. Suzuki has always been a great brand and I have only driven Suzukis personally since 2009.

If you are unsure of what you want in a vehicle, I would suggest test-driving a few cars and looking at what the vehicle offers. Depending on your business needs, your priorities might be a canopy, air conditioning, driving comfort etc.

I like the fact that the Super Carry is a working vehicle without too many frills—it is the quality that I am looking for.

Q: For your specific business, what were the top three things you looked for in a vehicle?

Fiona:

Sufficient space for all equipment and staff
Fuel Efficiency
Reliability of the vehicle.

Q: What are your top 4 favourite characteristics of this vehicle?

Fiona:

It’s definitely fuel efficient.
It is a comfortable drive when used for long work distances.
The pricing was very good.
The perfect size for the work we do.

I tell all the other Franchises about the Suzuki Super Carry and so far there are two other franchises, Rooihuiskraal and Kyalami, that have purchased Super Carrys for their businesses.

You absolutely can’t afford breakdowns because that instantly affects your business reputation. So far, we have had no incidents with our two vehicles. They are the perfect match for our business and I will keep encouraging others to consider the Super Carry - it more than delivers as a compact workhorse.
