Virtual reality to support the launch of the new Volkswagen Tiguan
Johannesburg, 12 May 2021 – The new Volkswagen Tiguan, which was introduced in the South African market in 2008, will go on sale from 1 July 2021.
To strengthen Volkswagen’s local digitalisation strategy, the launch of the new Tiguan in South Africa will be supported with Virtual Reality (VR) technology, which is available at 25 selected Volkswagen dealerships across South Africa.
Volkswagen was the first automotive brand in South Africa to introduce VR in dealer showrooms and currently the Polo, T-Cross, T-Roc and Tiguan are all available in VR. VR will also be available for the Golf 8 GTI when it goes on sale in September 2021.
Through using VR, customers can learn more about the vehicle and its features, configure a vehicle to their specification as well as take it on various adventures.
The new Tiguan is Volkswagen’s most technologically advanced SUV in South Africa and VR allows customers to experience these advancements in real time. Customers will be able to experience night-time driving in the new Tiguan as well as the convenience offered by the IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights, which feature 22 individual LEDs per headlight.
Features like Lane Change Assist and Side Assist are also easily experienced using VR. Lane Change Assist and Side Assist helps drivers to stay in their lane with reaction to vehicles moving in parallel as well as oncoming traffic. Another feature available on VR is Emergency Braking with Front Assist which assists with detecting obstacles in the front of the vehicle.
Customers wanting to pre-order the new Tiguan ahead of its 1 July launch in South Africa can do so on the Volkswagen website: https://www.vw.co.za/en/models/tiguan.html
