Latest A 35 4MATIC and A 45 S 4MATIC+ debut at renowned international Grand Prix racetrack with guest appearance by legendary DTM Champion Bernd Schneider. First ever Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4MATIC showcases unwavering commitment to delivering innovative and thrilling driving experiences.
New Mercedes-AMG A35 4MATIC and hyper-hatch A 45 S 4MATIC+ at a glance:
The recently updated A35 AMG 4MATIC represents the pinnacle of sportiness within the A-Class model series. Building upon the enhancements from Affalterbach, both the flagship Mercedes-AMG A45 S 4MATIC+ and the Mercedes-AMG A35 4MATIC have received significant updates.
With its refined aesthetics, the A35 further aligns itself with the distinctive design language of the AMG family. Notably, customers can still choose between the versatile Hatchback and the elegant Saloon variants for the A35, while the A45 S continues to be available exclusively as a Hatchback model. These choices ensure that discerning drivers can find a model that perfectly suits their preferences and driving needs.
Exterior: Performance inspired
The revised front headlamps, the AMG-specific radiator grille, and the new, round badge with the AMG emblem instead of the Mercedes star with a laurel wreath, immediately stand out when looking at the new Mercedes-AMG A-Class. In addition, a new front apron, and the power bulges familiar from the A45 provide the A35 with a new, coherent AMG face. The AMG look is underlined by the new wheel design, the rear spoiler lip, revised rear headlamps and the hallmark round exhaust pipes (twin-flow on the Mercedes-AMG A45 S 4MATIC+).
Interior: Luxury meets sportiness
As standard, the new Mercedes-AMG A-Class offers the AMG Performance steering wheel including AMG steering wheel buttons, with which the driver can control AMG-specific features such as the three-stage ESP or AMG Dynamics - without taking their hand off the steering wheel. In addition, the familiar AMG performance seat is now also available in the trendy sage grey colour.
State-of-the-art: Infotainment and connectivity
The new Mercedes-AMG A-Class also benefits from the latest MBUX generation which now features increased performance. The interior benefits from more USB charging power ports for added convenience and the new hallmark AMG screen design makes driving in the new AMG A-Class an interactive pleasure.
Motorsport derived performance technology
The Mercedes-AMG A35 is equipped with a 48-volt auxiliary power supply and belt-driven starter-generator (RSG) and achieves an output of 225 kW with a maximum torque of 400 Nm. As a mild hybrid, the RSG supports agility with 10 kW more power at start-up. In addition, an AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 8-speed transmission is now on board and the new front radiator facilitates temperature management at the limit.
The Hyper-hatch A 45 S 4MATIC+ develops considerably more power than the A 35 AMG variant. A total output of 310kW and 500 Nm allows for a 0-100km/h sprint time of just 3.9 seconds. With a maximum charge pressure of 2.1 bar, the 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine is also the leader in its segment in this respect. The electronically controlled wastegate (exhaust relief valve) allows the charge pressure to be controlled even more precisely and flexibly while optimising responsiveness, especially when accelerating from partial load.
Mercedes-Benz GLB 35 AMG
Unrivalled in its class, the Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4MATIC (Limited Edition) is available for the first time in South Africa and is limited to only 35 vehicles. Based on the AMG Line, the new GLB 35 4MATIC is distinguishable by further model-specific design features. The AMG-specific radiator grille emphasises membership of the AMG family. The front splitter, the prominent rear apron with two round, single tailpipe trim elements, and the AMG roof spoiler in black also guarantees a high recognition factor.
The limited edition includes the AMG Multi-spoke 21-inch wheels in matt black, the AMG Night Pack, the Panoramic Sunroof and is available in 3 colours: Digital White Metallic, Mountain grey metallic as well as the striking Manufaktur Patagonia Red.
On the interior, this vehicle features the AMG Performance steering wheel in nappa leather & AMG steering wheel buttons, ARTICO man-made leather / DINAMICA microfiber in black with red stitching, MANUFAKTUR seat belts in red and the Carbon-structure trim. In addition, a limited-edition badge is featured on the center console.
This is topped off with the premium-plus equipment package which includes Memory Seats, Keyless Go Package, Lane Tracking Package, Adaptive High Beam Plus & Multibeam LED, Navigation Package and the 360 Parking Package.
The powerful proportions of the GLB 35 AMG underscore the off-road focus of the design: the design emphasises surfaces, and reduced lines which conveys superior sportiness and modernity. The upright front section with its striking headlamps is clear evidence of off-road genes, as are the short overhangs at the front and rear.
AMG engine performance at the core
The 225 kW/400 Nm output of the agile, high-torque 2.0 litre 4-cylinder turbo engine is distributed to all four wheels via the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 8G transmission and the AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive. The sporty driving performance is combined with a wide range of driving experience modes, from highly dynamic to smooth touring.
Optimal traction: variable AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive
The performance-oriented all-wheel drive system continuously ensures the best possible ratio of dynamism, traction, and efficiency. A multi-disc clutch with AMG-specific electromechanical control allows a variable torque split which can be instantly changed according to the driving situation.
This ranges from purely front-wheel drive to a 50:50 percent distribution to the front and rear axle, for example during dynamic driving manoeuvres or on snow or ice. The influencing factors for torque distribution are not only the driving speed, the lateral and longitudinal acceleration and the steering angle, but also the difference in rotational speed between the individual wheels and the gear selected.
