Toyota Announces a Host of Aesthetic

Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) is proud to announce a number of minor changes to its popular people carrier, Rumion. Key enhancements are in the areas of passenger safety, convenience features as well as exterior styling.

Safety and Convenience Upgrades for Rumion
mmediate upgrades are in the S and SX models while changes in the range-topping TX will only be introduced in August 2023.

From a design point of view, the refreshed Rumion now features a black mesh grille that is larger than that of the outgoing model. This gives the car a poised and slightly prominent appearance.

Safety enhancements include the adoption of VSC, seatbelt warning and rear parking sensors in the S Grade. Convenience features include a height-adjustable front seatbelt and a seat recliner for the third row in the S Grade. A display audio, reverse camera, cruise control and a front centre console armrest have been added to SX models while the SX AT also gets Hill Assist Control.

Despite these changes, Rumion retains its four-cylinder petrol engine, seven-seater layout and good ground clearance. A choice of seven exterior colours is on offer, including Mystic Pearl White, Premier Liquid Silver, Azure Blue, Seal Grey Metallic, Autumn Blaze Red, Cedar Brown and Shadow Black Pearl.

All Toyota Rumion models employ the 1.5-litre K15B engine which delivers 77kW and 138Nm. Both 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmissions are offered (grade-dependant). The fuel consumption figure checks in at 6.2 l/100 km for both transmission types. CO2 emissions register as 146 and 147 g/km, while top speed is quoted as 175 and 170 km/h, for the manual and auto respectively.

Model Line-up & Pricing

Rumion 1.5 S R296 900
Rumion 1.5 SX MT R331 600

* Pricing and specification changes for TX models (MT and AT) will be announced in August 2023.
