The stage has been set for the 2020 South African Guild of Motoring Journalists (SAGMJ) Car of the Year competition (COTY) with the formal announcement of the finalists.
Toyota RAV4 2019
Whilst the advent of cross-over and SUV-type vehicles in most recent installments of the competition have been noticeable, Toyota has ticked all the proverbial boxes, with three distinct vehicles in three different categories selected as COTY finalists.
The nominees are the striking Corolla Hatch (hatchback), sharp RAV4 (SUV) and scorching Supra (sportscar). This marks the first time in the 34-year history of the competition that a single manufacturer has boasted three entries under one brand name.
“We are very proud to have three finalist in the 2020 SAGMJ COTY competition. 2019 was a great year for Toyota in terms of new product, and the judges’ selection of three very different vehicles in our range reflect this. Each one of these three cars offer something unique and we believe their strengths will shine through in each category they compete in.” says Glenn Crompton: Vice-President Marketing at Toyota South Africa.
