Johannesburg - South Africa (27 November 2019) This summer, Nissan is teaming up with Cosmopolitan to raise awareness around gender-based violence during the 16 Days of Activism. Cosmopolitan will work with eight male celebrities to take an oath of solidarity to confront violence against women.
Gender-based violence is one of the most pressing challenges
“We cannot overcome Gender-based violence unless we work together,” says Wonga Mesatywa, Executive Director, Corporate Affairs at Nissan South Africa. “That’s why we’re proud to stand behind Cosmo as they tackle this important initiative, encouraging men to step up and speak out against it.”

The Nissan Navara embodies a machine that combines both beauty and brawn. “The gentleman who have volunteered to participate in the #COSMOMenStandUp campaign epitomise strong masculine men who are also very gentle, much like the Nissan Navara Stealth,” says Wonga Mesatywa “and this is why we have specifically chosen this model to support Cosmopolitan.”
Stylish, comfortable and ultra-functional, the all new Nissan Navara Stealth builds on the Navara’s name as a tough, working pickup to include a number of design updates that make it an even more rugged, redefined version of the iconic pickup.
Modelled on the tough-as-nails Nissan Navara luxury edition, the all new Nissan Navara Stealth combines distinctive, rugged aesthetics with superior performance.
The Nissan Navara Stealth has been designed for men and women who turn mountains into molehills – and turn heads while they’re doing it. It’s for men and women who are made of more and who aren’t afraid to face their challenges head-on.
#COSMOMenStandUp encourages men to step up and speak out against gender-based violence.
“At COSMO, we recognise that gender-based violence is not a woman’s issue, it’s a human-rights issue. We need the men of South Africa to be our allies and stand with us in fighting gender-based violence. This campaign creates a platform for men and boys to engage and become change agents,” says COSMO editor Holly Meadows.
For every vote cast for COSMO Men Stand Up, R1 will be donated to the HeForShe solidarity campaign. This movement has been initiated by the United Nations and works for the advancement of gender equality by encouraging all genders to contribute as change agents.
Artists such as Shane Eagle, Nasty C, Mathew Mole and J Something will all be lending their voices to the call for an end to toxic masculinity and sexual harassment. Additional personalities that have joined the movement include photographer Trevor Stuurman, TV personality Tino Chinyani, actor Nay Maps, cricketer Kagiso Rabada, The Voice SA Season 2 winner Craig Lucas, Expresso presenter Thabiso Makhubela as well as #NotInMyName activist Siya Jentile.
