Mercedes-Benz Vans achieves best ever first quarter with around 99,000 units sold worldwide

Despite ongoing challenges in the area of logistics, Mercedes-Benz Vans was able to significantly increase unit sales compared with the prior-year quarter.

The share of all-electric vans rose by 22% to 3,600 vehicles
Mercedes-Benz Vans is consistently pursuing its goal of building the most desirable vans and increased its sales by a total of 12% in the first three months of the year. 98,900 vehicles were sold worldwide – more than ever before in a first quarter. The share of all-electric vans rose by 22% to 3,600 vehicles. The eVans’ share of total sales increased to 3.6% (Q1/2022: 3.3%). This once again underlines the company's claim to be a leader in the field of electric vans.

The segment of commercially positioned vans made a particularly strong contribution from January to March, with an increase of 13% to 83,800 units. The privately positioned vans were sold a total of 15,000 times, which corresponds to an increase by 5%.

Speaking of the results, Nadia Trimmel, the President of Mercedes-Benz Vans South Africa said, “We are glad to have contributed to this outstanding achievement by the Mercedes-Benz Vans group. I trust that this first quarter has set us up for great success throughout 2023. To South Africa and our fellow markets that form part of the Rest of World (RoW) category, increasing our total sales by 9% is no small feat. May we keep it up throughout the remainder of 2023.”

South Africa is poised to make an impact in the market of all-electric vans by 2024. Earlier in the year, Mercedes-Benz Vans South Africa announced that the much-anticipated eSprinter will be available in South Africa by 2024. This forms part of the goal to embark on a new era of sustainable mobility, particularly for businesses and individuals looking for a cost-effective, environmentally friendly mode of transportation. By introducing its first electric van to the South African market, Mercedes-Benz Vans South Africa reaffirms their assertion of being at the forefront of electric van technology. Mercedes-Benz Vans South Africa remains committed to being the leader in the field of electric vans within the South African market.
