The 2025 Maserati GranTurismo combines the driving performance of a sports car with luxurious comfort suitable for long-distance drives. Designed and developed at the Maserati Innovation Lab in Modena, GranTurismo is 100% Made in Italy and epitomizes Italian luxury and performance.
Maserati is thrilled to announce that the GranTurismo Trofeo and GranTurismo Folgore have each won Car and Driver’s coveted 2025 Editors’ Choice Awards in the ‘Luxury Sports Car’ and ‘Electric Luxury Sports Car’ categories, respectively. Widely regarded as the automotive world’s “honor roll,” this stamp of approval from one of the world’s most prolific automotive review and news outlets represents a major achievement for the Trident Brand.
For its annual Editors’ Choice Awards, Car and Driver evaluates nearly 500 models in 45 different market segments on the road today. After rigorous instrumented testing, on-road and on-track driving, and consideration of a vehicle’s mission fulfillment, value, and driving enjoyment, its expert editorial team chooses the top players on the market for this award, helping consumers easily identify the best new vehicles available to purchase.
Its advanced architecture readily accepts both internal combustion (ICE) and fully electric (BEV) drivetrains with virtually no change to the vehicle’s core design, something that is unique in the BEV space. This allows customers the luxury of choice with the Trofeo ICE GranTurismo variant featuring the powerhouse 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 Nettuno engine, which utilizes pre-chamber combustion technology derived from Formula One.
Alternatively, the GranTurismo Folgore adopts a 100% electric battery-based powertrain, powered by three 300-kW permanent magnet motors sending 760 horsepower to all four wheels. Its 800-volt architecture was developed with innovative solutions derived from Formula E, and its distinctive “t-bone” battery arrangement allows for a low center of gravity while retaining the same striking design and driving position as its ICE variants.
“We are honored to receive these prestigious awards from such a respected automotive authority like Car and Driver,” said General Manager of Maserati North America, Andrea Soriani. Maserati has a well-documented history of building beautiful and desirable Grand Touring cars. The modern GranTurismo perfectly encapsulates Maserati’s core elements of elegant design, incredible performance, and unwavering dedication to Italian excellence.”
With more than 75 years of history dating back to the original A6 1500 grand tourer, the 2025 GranTurismo Trofeo and GranTurismo Folgore encapsulate an undeniable Italian flair, harkening to the best parts of the Brand’s past while shining a beacon toward its innovative future.
Maserati produces a complete range of unique cars, immediately recognisable for their extraordinary personality. Thanks to their style, technology, and innately exclusive character, they delight the most discerning, demanding tastes and have always been a benchmark for the global automotive industry. A tradition of successful cars, each of them redefining what makes an Italian sports car in terms of design, performance, comfort, elegance and safety, currently available in more than 70 markets internationally. The Maserati line-up includes the Grecale, the “everyday exceptional” SUV, the GranTurismo, the iconic Italian grand tourer, and the GranCabrio, the Trident’s new convertible; all models characterised by the use of the highest quality materials and outstanding technical solutions. A range equipped with 4-cylinder hybrid powertrains – available for Grecale – and V6 petrol, with rear-wheel and four-wheel drive, embodying the performance DNA of the Trident brand. The top of the range is made up of the MC20 super sports car and the MC20 Cielo spyder, powered by the ground-breaking 100% Maserati Nettuno V6 engine, which incorporates F1-derived technologies into the power unit of a standard production car for the first time. The GranTurismo is available with both the high-performance V6 petrol engine, derived from the Nettuno, and a 100% electric version: the GranTurismo Folgore, the first car in the Modena-based brand’s history to adopt this solution. The full-electric range also currently includes the Grecale Folgore, Maserati’s first 100% electric SUV, and the GranCabrio Folgore. Finally, the House of the Trident's latest addition is the Maserati GT2 Stradale, the road-legal version of the GT2 that took Maserati back to the track in closed-wheel championships. The heart of the new super sports car is the V6 Nettuno engine, reaching 640 hp (471 kW) in the latter configuration. The GT2 Stradale is therefore the most powerful road-going Maserati with an internal combustion engine. The mission at Maserati is to write the future of mobility in the luxury segment, focusing on its customers’ requests. That mission continues to this day, looking ahead to the future and taking Italian luxury all over the world, with Maserati forming part of the Stellantis “Dare Forward 2030” strategic plan.
