Pretoria, 9 December 2023: Mahindra South Africa has joined hands with the Nelson Mandela Foundation and the City of Tshwane to host this weekend’s Nelson Mandela Remembrance Walk and Run.
The company has provided a fleet of Mahindra XUV700 and Scorpio-N vehicles to the organisers of the event. These will be used as both patrol and logistics vehicles and as the lead vehicles for both the walk and the run.
“Our partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation and the City of Tshwane is a perfect fit with our global philosophy of ‘Rise’ where we are obligated to uplift and improve every country and community in which we operate. This is also the stated objective of the Foundation and the local government of Tshwane,” says Rajesh Gupta, CEO of Mahindra South Africa.
“We are delighted to be able to host the Nelson Mandela Remembrance Walk and Run with the City of Tshwane and the Nelson Mandela Foundation,” says Nomonde Kweyi, Head of Strategic Marketing at Mahindra South Africa.
“Tshwane is home to the Mahindra South Africa headquarters, and we are a longstanding partner of the Nelson Mandela Foundation. We believe that this partnership is the ideal way for us to honour the legacy of the late State President who believed in a free and open society where each South African makes a positive contribution.”
The 10th running of the Remembrance Run marks exactly ten years after President Nelson Mandela passed away. It is only fitting then that the race has been completely sold out. There will be a 5km walk and a 10 and 21km run.
“The race is such a great start to the Festive Season. After this event, we will turn our focus to Arrive Alive and the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) to support their road safety initiatives during the Festive Season,” says Kweyi.
