Volkswagen will be out in full force at the Festival of Motoring this year
Volkswagen will create a carnival inspired and bespoke experience for the whole family at the fourth annual Festival of Motoring
Festival goers can meet the all-new and anticipated T-Cross
Visitors will also be the first to see vehicles like a locally-inspired concept car, the soon-to-be-launched T-Cross, the record-breaking ID.R as well as the special edition Amarok Canyon as they make their debut at the festival
Johannesburg. Volkswagen South Africa, the country’s leading passenger car manufacturer, will be at the 2019 Festival of Motoring from 22 – 25 August 2019 at Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit.
“Volkswagen will be creating the ultimate playground for motor enthusiasts at the fourth-annual Festival of Motoring with never-before-seen vehicles on South African soil,” said Andile Dlamini, Head of Group Communications.
Festival goers can meet the all-new and anticipated T-Cross, Volkswagen’s new SUV, which will be on display for the first time in South Africa. They can also view motoring technology at its finest, with the aerodynamic ID.R Pikes Peak electric racing car. This ground-breaking vehicle has already made history by breaking records at Pikes Peak, Nürburgring-Nordschliefe and more recently at the Goodwood Festival of Speed Hill Climb.
Other cars on display include the coolest and newest kids on the block, the Vivo Sound Edition and a locally-inspired concept car.
Fans can also strap in for some thrilling spins on the track in Volkswagen favourite vehicles, which include the Golf R with 228kW, Touareg Black Style, Arteon, Tiguan Allspace and Polo Vivo GT.
Volkswagen will also be creating a carnival inspired experience for the whole family which will include virtual games and upbeat performances.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will be giving visitors a taste of off-road action. For the first time ever, guests can experience the capabilities of the V6 Amarok on a bespoke technical 4x4 obstacle course inspired by the International Spirit of Amarok in the skidpan area.
The Spirit of Amarok is the only international amateur off-road precision driving competition and it was started right here in South Africa. From behind the wheel of an Amarok, qualifying teams from around the world go head-to-head to determine the best driver/navigator duo in the world. To give Festival of Motoring visitors a piece of the action, the Spirit of Amarok is the central theme at this year’s festival.
Kyalami’s challenging 4x4 track is the ideal area to put the powerful Amarok V6 to the test and this year will be no exception. The Amarok will be taking festival goers around the dirt track, and for future trailblazers, a mini Amarok circular track will be available to keep them entertained. The soon-to-be-launched special edition Amarok Canyon will also be on display.
Visitors can share their Volkswagen moments on social media by uploading photos and videos using the hashtag #VWRideWithUs and #SpiritOfAmarok.
“Volkswagen will be out in full force at the Festival of Motoring this year and we look forward to Volkswagen customers and fans experiencing and enjoying what we have on offer,” concluded Dlamini.
