Public premiere for KIA ProCeed with new shooting brake body style
KIA introduces new high-performance Ceed GT and ProCeed GT

KIA ProCeed
(PARIS, France) 2 October 2018 – KIA Motors today revealed the new KIA ProCeed at the 2018 Paris Motor Show. The all-new shooting brake makes its public debut alongside the new high-performance Ceed GT and ProCeed GT, as well as the Ceed GT Line. The KIA e-Niro electric crossover also makes its European premiere at the show.

Emilio Herrera, Chief Operating Officer of KIA Motors Europe, commented: “The new cars on display underline the level of ambition and design passion that defines KIA’s cars. The ProCeed offers buyers stunning and emotional design, the Ceed GT provides maximum driver engagement, and the e-Niro helps to break down the barriers to electric car ownership, making it easy, fun and reliable.”

New KIA ProCeed merges stunning coupé-inspired lines with tourer versatility

Shown publicly for the first time in Paris, the new KIA ProCeed merges stunning design with the space and versatility of a tourer in a five-door shooting brake body. The ProCeed goes on sale exclusively to European drivers at the beginning of 2019.

Carrying the name over from the second-generation KIA pro_cee’d three-door coupé, the new ProCeed has been designed, developed and engineered in Europe. A product of KIA’s European design, product development and R&D teams in Frankfurt, Germany, the ProCeed will be manufactured at the brand’s Žilina production facility in Slovakia. It will be built alongside the KIA Ceed and Ceed Sportswagon, first introduced earlier this year.

The new ProCeed encapsulates the spirit and athleticism of the second-generation KIA pro_cee’d hatch. A shooting brake by design, the ProCeed presents an alternative to the traditional three-door hatch, and marries imposing proportions with a compact footprint that hints at its outright agility. With the DNA of a coupé, the car is lower and longer than both the Ceed five-door hatchback and Sportswagon, giving it a unique raked-back silhouette unlike anything in the family car segment.

Inside the cabin, the ProCeed features the same ergonomic cabin as its Ceed compatriots. The interior is characterised by high-quality soft-touch surfaces. A 7,0-inch ‘floating’ touchscreen infotainment system sits at the centre of the dashboard, with audio, heating and ventilation controls situated below. The dashboard itself is angled slightly towards the driver, for ease of use.

Production of the ProCeed shooting brake begins in November, and sales commence exclusively across Europe in the first quarter of 2019.

KIA Ceed GT majors on performance and accomplished ride and handling

The original cee’d GT and pro_cee’d GT were launched in 2013, as the first ever performance hatchbacks from a Korean brand. The new Ceed GT picks up where its predecessors left off, with an assured, engaging drive and a powerful 1.6-litre T-GDi (turbocharged gasoline direct injection) engine, as well as a comprehensive range of comfort, safety and convenience technologies.

The Ceed GT’s sporty exterior design differentiates it visually from other models in the Ceed range. Where the design of the conventional Ceed is characterised by taut creases and curvaceous sheet metal, the GT variant presents a more athletic proposition, with new front and rear bumpers, sills and a series of red highlights around the exterior.

The GT variant is built around the same ergonomic cabin architecture as other models in the Ceed line-up. Surfaces are finished in high-quality soft-touch materials and metallic trim, while the dashboard is angled towards the driver, making it easier to use on the move. At the centre of the dashboard is KIA’s ‘floating’ touchscreen infotainment system – 7,0- or 8,0-inches wide – with audio, heating and ventilation controls situated below.

For the first time in a performance hatchback from KIA, the new Ceed GT will be available with an optional seven-speed double-clutch transmission, in addition to the standard six-speed manual gearbox. The new Ceed GT will enter production in November at KIA’s Žilina production facility in SlovaKIA, with sales due to commence in the first quarter of 2019.

GT-derived design and low-emission turbocharged engines for KIA Ceed GT Line

The new KIA Ceed GT Line also makes its first appearance today at the 2018 Paris Motor Show. It takes design cues from the higher-powered Ceed GT, and will go on-sale across Europe during Q1 2019.

Strengthening the appeal of KIA’s new mid-size family car range, the new Ceed GT Line is available on every variant of the new Ceed, including the five-door hatchback and Ceed Sportswagon. The new shooting brake bodystyle of the ProCeed is sold as standard in GT Line specification. All three GT Line models offer a high level of versatility, turbocharged engines and engaging handling, topped with a sporty new look inside and out.

The Ceed GT Line’s exterior introduces a range of distinct design features. These include a satin chrome and gloss black ‘tiger-nose’ grille surround, unique 17-inch or optional 18-inch GT Line alloy wheels, and newly designed front and rear bumpers which echo those of the Ceed and ProCeed GT. The fog lamp surround also incorporates horizontal metallic ‘blades’, similar to those found on the new GT models and the KIA Stinger.

Inside, Ceed GT Line models distinguish themselves with a sportier cabin ambience. The grey roof lining of the Ceed and Ceed Sportswagon is replaced with black cloth to cocoon occupants, and the door sills feature metallic scuff plates. Front passengers benefit from new GT Line-specific sports seats trimmed, with larger side and thigh bolsters, or optional seats based on the same supportive structure as those found in the high-powered GT models.

The Ceed GT Line is available with a choice of powertrains: KIA’s 1.0-litre and 1.4-litre T-GDi (turbocharged gasoline direct injection) engines, or KIA’s 1.6-litre ‘Smartstream’ CRDi (common-rail direct injection) diesel engine. The downsized range of powertrains contribute to the car’s agile handling characteristics and low overall weight.

KIA e-Niro: combining crossover practicality with zero emissions driving

The all-electric e-Niro combines driving enjoyment, eye-catching design, crossover utility and a zero-emissions powertrain – to create one of the most capable electric vehicles on-sale worldwide. Revealed today in European specification for the first time, the e-Niro has been designed to break down barriers to electric car ownership, offering long-distance driving range, more intelligent packaging, and greater practicality than many other electric vehicles.

The all-new KIA e-Niro is the first fully electric crossover utility vehicle produced by KIA, providing a zero-emissions driving range of up to 485 kilometres on a single charge of its 64 kWh long-range battery pack. The long-range battery is also capable of travelling up to 615 kilometres in the city – further than many petrol-powered vehicles. The e-Niro is also available with a 39.2 kWh battery, which offers a driving range of up to 312 kilometres on a single charge.

Inside the KIA e-Niro, the cabin combines a modern design with generous space and technologies that complement its zero-emissions powertrain. Buyers will also benefit from a range of dedicated electric vehicle in-car technologies to maximise range and efficiency, as well as new safety features, and differentiated exterior and interior design.

The new KIA e-Niro is manufactured at KIA’s Hwasung manufacturing facility in Korea, and will go on sale in select European markets by the end of 2018.
