The Beeld Children’s Fund annual fundraising raffle is also made possible through the support of Afrikaans radio station, Radiosondergrense (RSG 100-104fm). Both RSG and KIA Motors have already committed their continued support in 2020.

More than R700,000 raised for the Beeld Children’s Fund in 2019 fundraiser
(JOHANNESBURG) 29 November 2019 – KIA Motors, along with the Beeld Children’s Fund, this week handed over a brand new KIA Picanto STREET to the lucky winner of the charity organisation’s annual fundraising raffle. KIA has been a partner to the Beeld Children’s Fund for two consecutive years.

The winner, Estelle van der Westhuizen of Croydon, Kempton Park, had her own surprise in store as she gifted her new Picanto – in striking Honey Bee yellow – to her daughter, Angelique. The moment was made even more special by the fact that Angelique had just finished writing her final matric exam.

“We would like to thank every individual and organisation that has supported the Beeld Children’s Fund this year by purchasing a raffle ticket,” says Adrie van Staden, Executive Director of the Beeld Children’s Fund. “We have raised R729,245 this year, which allows us to support five exceptional development programmes.”

These programmes, explains Adrie, serve the needs of a wide variety of vulnerable children. It allows the Fund to assist traumatised children in obtaining therapy, for example, and for children from disadvantaged backgrounds to attend kindergartens and pre-schools. It also allows the Fund to help homeless youth to obtain care and accommodation at homes such as Echo Youthcare (and to complete their schooling). It also enables the Fund to treat children in children’s homes to excursions over the various school holidays.

“It has been a pleasure to again support the Beeld Children’s Fund,” says Christo Valentyn, Acting GM: Marketing, KIA Motors South Africa. “It is important to us as a brand, but also as a proudly South African company, to support organisations that focus on the youth of our nation. The youth present the future of our beautiful country, and where they are lacking opportunities to thrive and prosper, it is an honour for us to contribute to programmes that aim to change their lives for the better.”
