DAILY SUN READERS VOTE TOYOTA TOPS!

SA’s second largest daily newspaper, Daily Sun, has once again published its Readers’ Choice Awards with top brands in various categories being nominated by their readers. A solid indication of where a brand’s ‘like’ barometer sits with the readership of the ‘People’s Paper’, Toyota has reaffirmed its popularity.

South Africa’s current sales leader for 43 years, got the thumbs up in three categories:

According to Glenn Crompton, Vice President of Marketing for Toyota South Africa Motors, being voted the number-one automotive brand in several categories is proof that Toyota’s strong sales is not coincidental: “It’s so heartening to be rewarded with an accolade such as this because it shows that all the hard work that we’ve put in – from the products we offer to the service our dealers provide – is paying dividends. Thank you to our customers for their passionate and loyal support.”

The awards reflect the significant inroads Toyota has made in passenger car as well as SUV sales. With reference to the latter, Toyota has representation in every size and specialty segment from the compact Urban Cruiser to the King of off roaders in the guise of the Land Cruiser 300. The crossover Toyota Corolla Cross, SA’s Car of the Year for 2022, has been a real success story, storming up the retail charts ever since its launch in 2021 – last month for example it was number-one on the passenger car podium with total sales in excess of 2,100 units.

Similarly, the evergreen Fortuner’s popularity continues unabated – it’s held the title of SA’s favourite SUV for over 16 years and as recently as June, racked up sales of over 1,600 units.
